Kansas is one of five states and territories to receive funding for increasing home and community-based services to ensure individuals with disabilities have more flexibility in where they live and receive services. Governor Laura Kelly announced Wednesday that the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services was awarded a $4.97 million grant to expand access and provide more choices to Kansans ready to transition from institutional care to independent living.
The grant is from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. There will be a 16-month planning and implementation period for the 5-year agreement with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
