Senator Jerry Moran Pens Letter To VA Urging Acton For Vets TeleHealth Implementation

US Senators Jerry Moran and Jon Tester, the ranking member and chairman of the US Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, penned a letter to VA Secretary Denis McDonough urging the Department of Veterans Affairs to complete the requirements of the 2-year-old legislation passed into law requiring the VA to increase the number of locations where VA telehealth care is available at non-VA facilities through a grant funding program.

It allows non-VA facilities, including Veterans Service Organizations, nonprofits, or businesses to become telehealth access points for local veterans living in rural or remote areas to receive care closer to home. Moran and Tester yesterday asked for a status update on the program development, steps taken to expedite implementation, and a timeline for VA to publish a proposed rule, and final rule, and award the grants in accordance with the law.

The Senators in their letter said the VA must take action to ensure veterans in rural and remote areas have timely and convenient access to care and telehealth services. You can read the full letter by following the link here.
