Seatbelt Citations Will Be Issued With More Frequency

According to a 2019 Kansas observational seatbelt survey, if the driver is buckled then there is a 97% chance the children in the vehicle are buckled. Conversely, if the driver is unbuckled that drops the chances the kids in the vehicle are buckled to 30%.

The Parsons Police Department published this fact along with an announcement on their Facebook page that beginning October 24th through October 28th they will join other Kansas law enforcement agencies to stop what they feel is an epidemic in Kansas.

Parsons PD went on to say in their post that there should be no surprises when it comes to this enforcement effort. Officers will issue a citation to anyone who does not obey Kansas’s seatbelt laws. Parsons PD and other Kansas Law Enforcement will be especially vigilant patrolling around schools.
