KDOT's KanDrive Goes Mobile

The Kansas Department of Transportation unveils a new phone app for drivers. The new app contains all the features of the KanDrive website, such as maintenance and construction activities, winter highway conditions, flooded roadways, and accidents affecting traffic. It also includes a hands-free and eye-free feature that announces upcoming traffic events while traveling. It also offers real-time streaming camera views across the state. Included is a trucker’s mode for commercial vehicle operators that announces rest stop parking availability.

If you prefer to receive real-time highway condition information over the phone, KDOT has updated and simplified the 511 system including improved speech recognition. Motorists can dial 511 and ask for reports on a specific route, either from city to city or within a city. For more information go to the website at www.KanDrive.org.
