KDOT and NHTSA Sponsor Pedestrian Safety Month

 

October is national Pedestrian Safety Month. The Kansas Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration sponsors the campaign to raise awareness about pedestrian safety behaviors, speed, roads as well as post-crash care.

 

Nationwide, a pedestrian was killed every 81 minutes and every 10 minutes someone was injured in traffic crashes in 2020. NHTSA on its website has a Walkability Checklist that helps communities identify and improve walking areas and you can find more information about the National Walk and Roll to School Day to be held on October 12t.
