Jim Wright Updates The Board Of Commissioners Concerning The Little Caney River Logjam

Jim Wright with the public works department updated the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners about the Little Caney River LogJam. He addressed the Board during the regular meeting Monday morning. The Board agreed last week to use their equipment for the removal of the logs from the jam at a cost of $7500 to the City of Caney. This should enable the City to better utilize the water flow from the release of water from Timberhill Lake further upstream.

What is being done now will not fix the problem. Significant rain is the only thing that will correct the situation.

Chairperson Bever said the City might have to look for a long-term solution to the logjam problem as it will probably keep occurring over time.

In other business the Board agreed that the courthouse would close at 2 pm on October the 28th for the Kiddie Parade. Chairperson Robert Bever made the announcement.
