Caney City Council Names New Leadership Team

A new leadership team is announced at last night’s special meeting of the Caney City Council. According to the Montgomery County Chronicle, Mayor Josh Elliott introduced City Clerk Amber Dean, Utilities Billing Clerk Kyla Robinett, City Administrator Kelley Zellne and Deputy City Clerk and Treasurer Melinda Trabuc.

Zellner says the logjam on the Little Caney River, which is preventing water flow from Timber Hill Lake to the city’s water intake pipe, was in the process of removal. Montgomery County had agreed to do the removal for $7500. The jam is believed to have started as a beaver dam. City crews will move and burn the logs and a private company will remove any dirt that comes out of the project.

This does not end Caney’s water issues, but it does help get the most out of the city’s alternate water source. Residents are asked to continue to cut their water use as much as possible until significant rainfall has occurred.
