A traffic stop leads to a drug arrest in Chanute.

The Chanute Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of S. Santa Fe Ave. on Monday. Upon speaking with the persons involved, officers cited 45-year-old Charles Mendoza of Uniontown for improper turning, failure to give a proper signal, driving with an expired tag and failure to produce valid insurance. 

After an investigation, Mendoza was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The completed reports are forwarded to the Neosho County Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of the charges being filed.
