Federal Funds Bring EV Charging Stations Along US Highway 400

Over the next 5 years, the Kansas Department of Transportation will receive $39.5 million in funding from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program. Initially, these funds are to be matched with local monies to build direct current fast charging stations along KDOT-determined EV charging corridors.

U.S. 400 locally along with I-70, I-35, I-135, I-335, and US 81 north from I-70 to Nebraska will receive funding from the Federal Program to build direct current charging stations.

Once complete, nearly 1600 miles of Kansas interstate and highways will have readily accessible fast charging stations.

DOT’s Charge Up Kansas NEVI Plan has been approved and once completed with the vast amount of wind energy in the state, much of the fuel for the EVs will be locally produced, further benefiting the Kansas economy.

Details about EVs and EV charging stations and other related information are available on the Charge Up Kansas website - https://www.ksdotike.org/charge-up-kansas, Twitter: @ChargeUpKS, or Facebook: Charge Up Kansas.
