Montgomery Commissioner's Hear From Business Owners & Senator Peck Concerning Budget & Taxes

This week the Montgomery County Commissioners heard from Andy Taylor with the Montgomery County Chronicle concerning the Revenue Neutral legislation and the tax statement he received from the county.

Mr. Taylor did propose that an additional employee might be needed in Montgomery County.

Senator Virgil Peck spoke with the Board next about how legislators hear from everyone that taxes are too high.

The Senator went on to say he would like to see more public involvement at hearings like these.

Board Chair Robert Bever responded that he doesn't want to raise taxes.

Chairperson Bever went on to say that the County Manager may be what is needed.

The Board also heard from two local real estate professionals who also relayed the point that people are moving out of the county because of the high personal property tax rates.
