Fees To Change In Coffeyville Satellite Tag Office

In an effort to put the Coffeyville tag office in the black and keep it open as a service to the citizens of Coffeyville, the Montgomery County Commissioners voted in favor to increase many of the fees charged at that office. These changes would not affect the Independence office or if you mail in your title and registration work, only fees for walk-ins at the Coffeyville office will be changed. Commissioner Mike Cordray had spoken to several constituents in Coffeyville. Many told him with the price of gas and inflation, an increase in fees would be better than having to drive to Independence.

Some of the fees that have changed are the fees for special plates like handicapped, which would go from $1 to $2; to add or release lien holders, adding or removing owners, and regular renewals would go from $1 to $2. To replace a title, to obtain a savage, dealer, mechanic, or a non-highway title the fee would go from $1 to $5. To renew a title and registration would go from $3 to $5. 30-day, 60-day, or inspection permits would go from $1 to $2.

These changes will take place on October 1st, 2022. They will be in addition to the existing state fees. The Commissioners plan to revisit the impact of the fee changes and the viability of continuing to keep the Coffeyville office open.
