SEED Grant Program To Enhance Rural Kansas

A new grant program was announced by Topeka this week that will allocate funds to rural governments, economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, and other organizations that will help revitalize communities with a population of 5000 or less. Strategic Economic Expansion and Development (SEED) program will make grants between $5000 and $50,000 in 78 designated counties in Kansas.

Categories will include projects that improve childcare and senior programming, projects that enhance the beauty of rural communities with art projects, murals, and signs; create, renovate or expand access to retail food establishments and library improvements, including books, technology, furniture, and building improvements.

The SEED program is funded through the Technology Enable Fiduciary Financial Intuitions Development And Expansion Fund. The TEFFI Act was passed with bipartisan support to promote economic development throughout the state.
