The City of Independence, in an effort to bring transparency, insight, and understanding to the 2023 Municipal Budget, has introduced a new online platform with explanations of line-item allocations and how the budget is divided among City departments, as well as a property tax calculator for residents.

City Finance Director Lacy Lies said they are trying to make a rather complicated concept easier to understand and improve transparency and communications with residents. To access the City’s website click on the link here which will take you to the City of Independence Budget Book page.
