Please use caution this morning as you drive through residential areas. Not only because school has just started for almost everyone, but when we have long periods without precipitation a build-up of oil, grease, and other petrochemicals occurs on the roadway.

So, when we do get a little rain, and it’s especially more prevalent when it is only a small amount of rain like we had last night, it is repelled by the oily residue and creates a very slick roadway. When we get a large amount of rain it tends to scour it off and it’s not as dangerous.

So as you drive to work, pick up the kids, go to the store, or just go about your daily life, just be aware that the roadway may not have the same traction as you normally think it would.
