Senator Peck Sees Failure to Pass Tax Free Holiday As A Net Loss For All Kansans

Senator Virgil Peck hopes his “Back-To-School Tax-Free Holliday” bill will get traction in the next legislative session in Topeka. As a legislator who lives on the border, he sees we are losing revenue to our neighboring states that already have a tax-free weekend to help families buy the items they need to get their kids back to school.

He went on to say that a study showed that on average over $600 is spent on back-to-school items per student, and that’s a lot of money that is going across the state line that could be spent here. Senator Peck was a guest on the KGGF morning news on the mighty 690 Friday morning.
