Law enforcement officers from Parsons Police Department, Independence Police Department, Labette County Sheriff’s office, Iola Police Department, Pittsburg Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s office, and members of the Independence Dispatch team participated in a training course this week called De-Escalation: Principles and Practice.

Three National De-Escalation Training Center instructors conducted the course. Trainers also included David Dyer, the NDTC Chief Operating Officer, Chief Robert Spinks from Parsons, and Independence Chief Jerry Harrision.

Chief Spinks and the Parsons Police Department hosted the event and Chief Harrison coordinated the training.
