Officers with the Chanute Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of S. Plummer Ave. After interviewing the driver and the passenger, officers arrested 35-year-old Thadeous Valentine of Fredonia for allegedly operating a vehicle with expired tags, driving without a valid license, failure to provide valid insurance, distribution of methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, distribution of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of stolen property firearm.

Also arrested was 35-year-old Marie Mata of Chanute for distribution of methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, distribution of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charges and reports were sent to Neosho County Attorney’s office for review and consideration for formal charging.
