State Grants Help Local Building Owners With Revitalization Projects

Coffeyville, Independence, and Caney will receive grants from the Historic Economic Asset Lifeline (HEAL). With HEAL, the state will help building owners with matching grants to cover eligible expenses, as historic properties are revitalized.

HEAL was made possible through a collaboration with the Patterson Family Foundation, which has been dedicated to strengthening rural communities since 2007. Caney will receive $65,000 in Emergency HEAL funds for the Union Gas Building Renovation. Independence will receive $65,000 for the Tree House of Early Learning and Coffeyville will get $65,000 to assist in restoring the Midland Theater.

The program was created for rural towns with fewer than 50,000 residents and will allow those businesses to once again become economic drivers in their communities by creating new jobs and services.
