The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was brought in by the Chanute Police Department to help investigate a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours yesterday in Chanute.

At about 12:20 AM Monday a 911 call was made by a female subject who reported hearing a gunshot. When officers arrived at the scene they found a male bystander administering CPR in the alley, east of 1706 S. Highland. EMS took over life-saving measures, however, the victim, 34-year-old Blake A. Pearson, of Topeka was pronounced deceased at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

An autopsy has been scheduled. Because the investigation is still ongoing, no other information is available at this time.
