A house in Independence is damaged as a result of an SUV backing into it causing severe damage to the building. The Independence Police Department investigated the incident which occurred in the 1000 block of West Maple Street at about noon on Tuesday.

A witness observed the incident and followed the suspect. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Independence PD stopped the driver south of Independence. 61-year-old Larry Dick was arrested and processed on charges of felony criminal damage to property and failure to stop at an accident.
