As concerns over active shooters continue to rise across the country local law enforcement is taking steps to make sure the county is prepared. Montgomery County Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson says they started by meeting with John Deere's incident response team.

Whitson says in addition to the facility tour they give a two to two and a half-hour presentation to employees.  Whitson says they have also done training for the Independence Walmart and has one planned for next week at Standard Motors in Independence.
