The potential for wind turbines in Labette County continues to be a large topic of discussion at county commission meetings. Zoning is often mentioned as the best way to keep RWE out, however, Commission Chairman Lonie Addis says he doesn't like the idea of zoning.

The commission is continuing to look into putting a moratorium in place to do more research on zoning. Commissioner Terry Weidert says he has been doing a lot of research and talking to other counties for advice. He says Wabaunsee County has put restrictions in place that would make it difficult for wind farms in their county.
