Independence Police Department reports a rash of preventable vehicle break-ins. IPD spent much of Monday investigating several car break-ins that occurred overnight and into the day. The investigation was aided by the fact that the alleged thieves were caught on video at several locations entering unlocked cars.
Based on evidence at the scenes all the vehicles are believed to have been unlocked. IPD have identified the suspects and they are applying for arrest warrants. No names are being released at this time as local law enforcement has a vehicle description and are actively seeking to arrest the suspects.

Police Chief Jerry Harrison reminds everyone that almost all the break-ins in Independence could be prevented if everyone would just lock their car.
