Caney Police Department Arrests Topeka Woman On Multiple Charges

 

A Topeka woman was arrested on an open warrant and for drug charges. 28-year-old Aalijah Lawton was detained for questioning after the Caney Police Department received a report of a vehicle driving recklessly and running other vehicles off the roadway north of Caney.

CPD determined that Lawton had an outstanding warrant out of Shawnee County for Aggravated Vehicular Battery and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Lawton’s two-year-old child was in the back seat and was allegedly not properly restrained. Upon searching the vehicle CPD allegedly found Cocaine, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Lawton was placed under arrest and the child was taken into custody until family members could pick the child up.

Lawton faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering a child, and transporting an open container.
