Sunflower Summer Keeps Students Engaged This Summer At Little To No Cost To Families

A Kansas program helps keep pre-K thru 21-year-old students engaged in education throughout the summer months. Sunflower Summer is a program promoting family engagement and student learning that is funded by federal COVID-19 money.

While the program is geared to help students and families with a low-cost way to visit local attractions and events, it also has a boosted travel and tourism within the state.

To participate in Sunflower Summer, adults can visit www.sunflowersummer.org to find more information and instructions for downloading or updating the phone app. An adult will need to register their family members and include their county and school district in the app.

Each student, and up to two accompanying adults may access a ticket voucher within the app for each of the 90 attractions. There are also several new bonus events this year, like the Sunflower Summer Family Campout at Milford State Park on Thursday, July 7th. It’s an overnight camp loaded with family activities like fishing, archery, canoeing, campfires, s’mores, and more.

Visit our website kggfradio.com and click on the link to get more info about the program as well as information on how to get the app for your phone.
