An Independence man has been arrested after a hit and run and eluding police for over a week.
The Independence Police Department arrested 39-year-old Brian Medsker for suspicion of attempted murder and other related charges. The charges stem from an investigation in which Medsker is alleged to have intentionally struck a cyclist. At around 8:38pm Saturday IPD received a call on the location of Medsker and officers were able to locate him near 10th and Willow. Medsker led officers on a pursuit with IPD deploying their canine team, but Medsker was taken into custody before the dog reached him.
Medsker is being held on a $750,000 bond. IPD has opened an investigation to determine who helped Medsker elude police for nine days. Two were arrested for felony interference June 7th. Search warrants are being sought to gather evidence and more arrests are expected.
