The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Verdigris River until this Saturday.  In Coffeyville, the prediction by the NWS is the river will crest at 18.2 feet.  Coffeyville City staff is monitoring the river stage, at the most recent check, it was at 14.9 feet.

In Independence, the current forecast has the river reaching 38.9 feet. That would be enough to cause flooding on Park Boulevard at Sycamore Street and the City Dam.  The city is closing access to the dam for at least 24 hours until the water recedes back down below the roadway. The street at Sycamore and Parkhurst is currently open but will be closed if water crosses the roadway at Park.
