Parsons Police Looking for Shooting Suspect

The Parsons Police Department is searching for a man believed to be involved with a shooting earlier this month.

On March 5th, officers with the Parsons Police Department were called to the scene of a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers rendered first aid to a victim, who was identified as 42-year- old Tyrone Mayweathers of Kansas City. He had received multiple gunshot wounds.

The ensuing investigation revealed that there had been a large fight at the scene of the crime. Officers then obtained a felony arrest warrant for 22-year-old David Lamont Young III. The warrant is for one count of attempted second degree murder and one count of criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The department has notified the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to request assistance in locating Young. Police believe he fled the area after the shooting, although leads have suggested that the suspect may return to the Parsons area. So far, those leads have not panned out.

This continues to be an ongoing investigation. The arrest warrant extends to the entire nation for inter-state extradition. Mayweathers remains under medical care at an undisclosed location.
