A naked bike thief is arrested in Independence.
Around 9:00pm Wednesday, Independence Police officers were dispatched to a theft near 16th & Maple. The victim reported his electric bike was stolen by a naked man. Dispatch immediately began receiving other reports of a naked man running around the 10th and Myrtle area. Officers located the nude man but he refused to surrender. The man ran into oncoming traffic and jumped on the side of a slowing vehicle. At this time officers were able to grab the man and physically subdue him.
The naked man was taken into custody. The man was identified as 33-year-old Shane May, of Independence. May was arrested for aggravated robbery, interference with law enforcement officers and disorderly conduct.
