As temperatures rise over the next few weeks, Caney Police Department is recommending a few spring safety tips.

Caney PD suggests locking your doors and windows when you go to bed or leave your house, even if you are only leaving for a short period. Yard working tools, ladders, bicycles, gardening tools, or anything else you may have in your yard should be secured. It is important to be aware of house improvement scams, if you did not solicit the contractor or salesman who shows up at your door unannounced, do not do business with that person.

Caney PD also suggests reporting suspicious activity and to call the station, at 620-879-2141, if you are leaving town over the weekend or going on vacation, and would like your home/business to be on the police watchlist.
