Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies stop a burglary in progress thanks to the homeowner's security system. At around 3:30am this morning, deputies were dispatched to a home in rural Independence for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner was relaying information to deputies from their security system.

Deputies and officers from the Independence Police Department surrounded the home and on approach called out the suspects. Austin Harris of Independence and Amber Goodsell of Cherryvale were located in the home and taken into custody. Both are facing charges of burglary and theft and Goodsell is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
