The Independence Fire Department responds to their third fire in the last week.
IFD responded to a reported structure fire at 201 N 2nd St yesterday afternoon around 4:45. A second alarm was immediately called due to two ambulances on other calls. Arriving units found heavy smoke venting from a two-car unattached garage. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes and were able to clear the structure by 6:00pm.
Assistance was received from Independence Rural Fire. Dearing Rural and Cherryvale Fire-EMS were en route but canceled when the fire was quickly extinguished.
