Schools Monitoring Potential Threats Spreading Via Social Media

A threat of possible school shootings has been circulating nationally on social media.  The threat has been going around the app called TikTok and is warning students to stay home today. While the threat did not originate in the area the schools are aware of the potential.

USD 445 Superintendent Craig Correll says they plan on having extra police presence at all schools this morning and they appreciate their relationship with the Coffeyville Police Department in times like these. USD 446 Superintendent Rusty Arnold says they do not consider the threat to be credible, but they are monitoring the situation closely.

In a post on Twitter, TikTok says they handle even rumored threats with utmost seriousness, which is why they're working with law enforcement to look into warnings about potential violence at schools even though they have not found evidence of such threats originating or spreading via TikTok.
