Kansas to Receive $27.6M from Firm Investigated Over Drug Costs

Kansas will receive nearly $27.6 million from a legal settlement with a pharmacy benefit management company that manages prescription costs for its Medicaid program, after an investigation into whether the company had overcharged the state.

The settlement with Centene Corporation is the result of a years-long investigation into the company’s business practices undertaken by Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office. Schmidt accused the company of failing to represent the state’s best interests.

In the settlement, Centene agreed to change its practices.

Schmidt thanked the Kansas Medicaid program and the Kansas Insurance Department for their assistance in obtaining the settlement.
