The Kansas Department of Transportation reopened U.S. 169 from 35th Street at Chanute south to 130th Street.

The highway reopening south of Chanute marks the end of the first phase of the 13-mile U.S. 169 pavement reconstruction project in Neosho and Allen counties. Next week the contractor plans to move north and close U.S. 169 between K-39 and Plummer Avenue. The state route detour for the second phase will be signed on U.S.54, U.S. 75, and K-39.
