The Independence City Commission will consider approving bids for two construction projects at Kiddy Land in Independence.

Kiddy Land is the play area at Riverside Park and Zoo. According to the request for commission action, the area has an aging sidewalk infrastructure that needs to be addressed. The recommended bid comes from Jeff Graham Construction out of Coffeyville and is worth $233,335. One other bid was submitted, with the cost estimated at over $390,000. The former bid, if chosen, includes ADA access to several specific attractions.

Another bid was sought for the construction of a restroom, as the closest one to Kiddy Land is located over 620 feet away. The recommended bid comes from Decker Construction and will cost the city $118,900. Two other bids were submitted, both just over $134,000.

The city commission will meet this Wednesday at 5:30 PM at Memorial Hall.
