The increase in the use of soybean oil and the potential for an increase in renewable diesel bring a positive economic impact from bringing a soybean crushing facility to the area.  Agricultural Economist Dr. Dan O'Brien says it will increase competition but there is more to the story than just filling a gap with this plant.

Dr. O'Brien says this is going to create competition for how soybeans are used, whether they are exported or crushed.  It was announced last week that Bartlett, a Savage Company, would be bringing a soybean crushing facility to Montgomery County. This facility is a $325 million project that will bring 50 jobs to the area.
