The KBI is currently investigating the death of an inmate at the Crawford County Jail.

Corrections officers at the jail were alerted to an injured inmate. They located Dante M. Martinez, 20, of Pittsburg. Martinez was suffering from multiple injuries and was transported to Girard Medical Center. It was discovered via video surveillance that 25-year-old Gavin P. Wood, of Arma, had attacked Martinez causing his injuries. Martinez was later pronounced deceased from his injuries and Wood was arrested on a second-degree murder charge.
