A Baxter Springs firefighter is injured while fighting a fire late last week. Friday night Baxter Springs firefighters responded to a structure fire. Lieutenant Malachi Brown sustained injuries during the fire operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall's office.

Lt. Brown’s wife shared an update yesterday via Facebook. She says he has severe 3rd-degree burns over 27% of his body, is sedated and on a ventilator.
