Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The grim statistics show that one in eight women will get breast cancer and 40,000 women die each year from the disease. It is also estimated that just over 330,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed.

Wilson Medical Center's Brandy Maffei says that there are ways to try and curb these numbers.

Maffei also laid out factors that increase a woman's chance of developing breast cancer.

Although rare, men can also get breast cancer. In 2021, an estimated 2,650 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and in the U.S. and approximately 530 will die.

If you need to schedule an appointment for a mammogram, you can contact the Wilson Medical Center at 620-325-8360.
