Beginning next year, children in Columbus will have a new way to cool off as a splash pad will open in Columbus.

The 2,200-square-foot splash pad, which will have sprayers, water buckets, and a variety of other activities to partake in, will be constructed at Discovery Park in Downtown Columbus.

The addition was funded by the Hatfield and Houser families who each contributed $75,000 for the project. In addition to the splash pad, benches will be placed around the splash pad. Power Play, of Bixby, Oklahoma is the contractor on the project.

The splash pad will officially open to the public next spring.
