The Labette County Commission is putting a burn ban in place in the county. Emergency Management Director Charlie Morse says since Wednesday of last week there have been several fires in the county.

Morse says the county fire chiefs contacted him to ask the county commissioners to enact a burn ban.  Morse says there can be exceptions made for burning but for agricultural purposes only. In addition to the burn ban in the county, there will also be a ban in Edna, Oswego and Chetopa. The ban won't officially be in place until Thursday, but Morse and the commissioners and recommending no one burns effective immediately.
