Labette County Clerk Gena Landis has announced that the recall petition filed against County Commissioner Brian Kinzie has surpassed the required amount of signatures of registered voters.
According to Landis, her office received 1,607 signatures. After 274 signatures were dropped 1,333 signatures still remained on the petition. 1,202 signatures were needed to force a special election to recall Kinzie. A special election will be scheduled sometime this week asking the voters in the 2nd district if they would like to remove Kinzie from office.
Kinzie has yet to publicly respond.
