A burn ban is being put in place in Labette County. The ban comes on recommendation from Emergency Management Director Charlie Morse. The burn ban will officially be in place starting Thursday but Morse and the commissioners are encouraging citizens to not burn effective immediately.

Morse says with dry conditions area fire chiefs are worried if there is a fire it could get out of control quickly. The ban will also be in effect in Oswego, Chetopa and Edna and will be in place until further notice. There can be an exception made for burns by fire chiefs but only for agricultural purposes.
