Improvements to Downtown Coffeyville Part of Tax Extension Vote

Coffeyville voters will head to the polls on November 2nd to decide if they want to extend the existing ½-cent sales tax that is set to expire on September 30th, 2022.

The sales tax would be re-purposed for a number of different items around town including Downtown Coffeyville. Coffeyville City Manager Mark Hall explains how the sales tax extension will be used downtown.

Hall went on to say that since this is a sales tax, that it won't only be Coffeyville citizens paying for the improvements.

If the measure is approved by voters, the ½-cent sales tax will be collected for a 10-year period. At the end of the 10-year period, the tax will sunset and is only renewable by voter approval.
