An early morning fire is quickly put out by multiple fire departments. At around 3:15 this morning, Independence Rural Fire and Independence Fire & EMS were dispatched to the 1700 block of West Oak for a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, units reported flames coming from the back of the house. Sycamore Rural Fire and Elk City Rural Fire also responded to the scene to assist with the fire. The four departments were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. One patient was treated and released at the scene.
