Two Arrests and Two Fires in Caney

A Caney man is arrested on criminal threats and a Caney woman on two warrants. Late last week, Caney Police Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of South Wood St. The suspect had a gun and made threats against another person and threatened to burn their house down. While at the residence, officers encountered Pam Bellmyer who had two active warrants for failure to appear. She was arrested and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

At around 3:00am Friday morning, a house fire was reported at 109 South Wood St. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could do major damage to the home. While working the first fire, there was a second fire in the 900 block of East 3rd St. Despite efforts from both Caney and Tyro Fire Departments the building was destroyed by the fire. A joint investigation into the fires is currently underway. Later that morning, officers executed a search warrant and arrested 53-year-old Patrick Griffin on criminal threat charges.
