An investigation is underway after two semi-trucks collide on a highway and catch fire. Cherryvale Fire-Rescue and Cherryvale Rural Fire responded to HWY 169 and CR 4800 for a collision involving two semis that were on fire.

Upon arrival, mutual aid was requested from Independence Rural Fire, Liberty Rural Fire, Independence Fire & EMS, and CVR Fire. Also on scene was Cherryvale PD, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and Kansas Highway Patrol. The highway was closed down while suppression efforts were underway. Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
