Kansas Secretary of Transportation Julie Lorenz has revived the Executive Safety Council for the state. Representative Rich Proehl says this is a council that has been in effect for a number of years but hasn't been active in a while.

Proehl says right now the number of crashes and fatalities are up and their goal is to get those down through education. According to law enforcement, a majority of crashes are due to speed.
