Two people were injured in a car wreck in Neosho County Thursday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Dalton Peterson of Iola was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on Chase Road about one mile west of U.S. 169 when it failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection with 130th Road and struck a 2012 Ford Escape driven by a 17-year old female on the front passenger side of the vehicle. The Escape then struck an electrical pole.
Peterson sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Neosho Memorial Hospital. The 17-year-old female had a suspected minor injury and was also taken to Neosho Memorial Hospital.
Seatbelts were in use in the Escape but were not in use in the Grand Prix.
